The Gojek Brandbook: Your Design Handbook


The Gojek Brandbook serves as a vital resource to ensure design consistency at all levels. It offers a comprehensive guide that empowers our teams to uphold a unified visual identity, regardless of the project's size or complexity. This truly bespoke design guideline is tailored to meet the specific needs of the Gojek brand, aligning with the company's nature and vision.

Approach:

Our design approach is rooted in simplicity, making it easily understandable and adaptable to future needs. We collaborate closely with various teams, including marketing, product development, design, advertising, and writing, to thoroughly understand their unique requirements. This comprehensive approach ensures that our designs not only meet current demands but also remain flexible to accommodate future challenges and opportunities

My Role :

  • Building the framework :

    The first step in crafting our guidelines involved understanding and processing of the requirements and constraints from various teams. Once we had gathered the necessary requirements, the focus shifted towards identifying the essential details to address in the guidelines, followed by extending them to accommodate future needs. While we knew what information to convey, the real challenge lay in how to effectively communicate it, a challenge we addressed by making a design that is clear, concise, and easy to use


  • Establishing close collaboration :
    Establishing close collaboration across teams played a pivotal role in shaping our guidelines. We worked collaboratively with marketing, product development, design, advertising, and writing teams, fostering a sense of unity and ensuring that the guidelines catered to the unique needs of each department. We built a team at multiple levels based on decision-making, contribution, and ownership. In addition to addressing challenges from stakeholders, I also supported the team by providing the right guidance and feedback on the designs.


  • Adopting the guidelines:

    Creating the brand guidelines is just the first step; it is equally important to ensure their adoption by all design functions. The team is spread across different departments, each with its own focus areas, and is also divided among various geographical locations. To address this, we conducted multiple roadshows, actively incorporating their feedback at various project levels.


Solution:

The solution to this project involved creating a comprehensive Brand Book that standardized our brand across touchpoints, making adoption faster and easier. This single source of guidelines equipped our teams to represent our brand consistently, reinforcing our presence in a diverse market.
