Gojek's Website Makeover: A Corporate Image Shift

Immediately after the rebranding, we began adopting the new design system across multiple brand touchpoints. As the face of the Gojek brand, the website was one of the crucial assets requiring a redesign. Throughout multiple iterations, we also developed a new Design Language System (DLS) for the Gojek web platforms.

Approach:

Beyond a visual overhaul, the website also required advanced enhancements to incorporate new functionalities. Our goal was to transform Gojek.com into a unified platform where all user groups could access relevant information and engage with the company in various ways. The redesign process went beyond merely enhancing the brand's visual design and focused on improving how user groups interacted with the brand.

My Role :

  • Initiating the programme:

At the initial stage of this redesign program, there were numerous lingering questions, with one of the most critical being how the allocation of effort and budget for such a significant project could be justified. To address this, we needed to thoroughly investigate the existing problem statements across multiple disciplines. Ultimately, we compiled a detailed list of problem statements to validate the program.

  • Assembling the team :

As the project was initiated, the primary objective was to identify the right contributors from multiple teams, including writers, UX designers, developers, visual designers, motion designers, and others. I envisioned this redesign effort to span the next three years of Gojek's market presence, anticipating future initiatives the brand would undertake.

  • Testing and development:

As we aimed to explore numerous design experiments, including micro-interactions, motion graphics, and media content, there was a significant opportunity to innovate and exchange ideas between developers and designers. We established a core team dedicated to working on these experimental ideas for the website. Through continuous testing and validation, we concluded that the new system would work for Gojek, both at that time and in the future.

Solution:

The redesigned website successfully elevated the brand perception of Gojek to a modern and relatable level within the overall design language. This also enabled us to incorporate multiple new functionalities and create a unified platform for interaction with various user categories. Even after many years, it still maintains a fresh look and feel for the brand, with minimal maintenance and further improvements needed.

The new look for the website has not only built significant brand equity but also provided a robust platform for interacting with Gojek's diverse user base. The team has successfully crafted a solution that is both long-lasting and highly efficient.
